Brats, Hot Dogs and a Whole Lot of Heart

There’s something special about the smell of freshly grilled brats and hot dogs wafting through the air on a sunny afternoon—and in Franklin, that delicious aroma often means the Franklin Noon Lions Club is out in full force, hosting one of our favorite fundraisers of the year: the Brat and Hot Dog Sale outside Sendik’s Grocery Store.

This isn’t just a tasty lunch stop—it’s a tradition rooted in service, community, and making a difference. Our members fire up the grill, serve with a smile, and connect with neighbors, all while raising money to support a wide variety of charitable programs that benefit our local and extended community.

So where does that brat money go?

Every dollar we raise helps fund projects that align with our mission of serving others. One of our most impactful partnerships is with Leader Dogs for the Blind, a program that provides highly trained guide dogs to people who are blind or visually impaired. These dogs are more than companions—they’re life-changing partners who help their handlers gain confidence, independence, and mobility.

We also proudly support the Military Honor Flight, which gives veterans the opportunity to visit the memorials in Washington, D.C. that honor their service and sacrifice. It’s an emotional and unforgettable experience for many who may not have had the chance to make the trip otherwise.

Closer to home, we’re investing in the next generation through technology scholarships for local students. These scholarships help young people access tools and education that prepare them for success in a digital world. Whether it’s a laptop for college or support for STEM programs, we’re committed to helping students achieve their goals.

And because we believe in keeping our community safe, we provide FREE reflective vests to walkers and runners in Franklin. These vests help make sure our residents are seen and safe, especially during early morning or evening strolls. It’s a small gesture with a big impact on public safety.

Raising Funds to Support Our Mission

Our Brat and Hot Dog Sale might look simple from the outside—a tent, a grill, and some friendly faces—but it represents the heart of our mission: coming together as a community to serve others. Every brat you buy helps us continue that mission, from improving lives to honoring heroes and supporting the future.

We love seeing familiar faces at our booth, hearing stories from longtime supporters, and welcoming new folks who stop by for the first time. It’s not just about raising funds—it’s about building connections and showing what a community can do when it comes together with purpose.

So the next time you see the Franklin Noon Lions Club outside Sendik’s, follow your nose and swing by for a brat or hot dog. You’ll leave with a full stomach and the good feeling of knowing you’ve helped someone in need. We can’t wait to see you there!
